Program Manager Undergraduate Clinical Partnerships and Placements
Overview
This individual must be at a minimum BSN-prepared, MSN preferred, with an active license as a registered nurse, able to collaborate with the Director of Undergraduate Clinical Partnerships and Placements on the principal responsibilities of this role. Reports to the Assistant Dean for the Accelerated BSN Program and engages support staff to assist with securing clinical contracts with the sites identified by the Program Manager for Undergraduate Clinical Partnerships and Placements. Secures sufficient placements and clinical instructors and preceptors for all clinical rotations in the Accelerated BSN Program and contributes to continued CSON undergraduate program stability. The successful incumbent will demonstrate emotional maturity, keen organizational skills, and engage in a steep learning curve to assure continued departmental functioning with a specific focus on expanded clinical site partnerships and secured clinical placements for all Accelerated BSN clinical rotations. The successful incumbent will evidence exceptional verbal skills and writing proficiency.
Responsibilities
1. Establishes effective, long-term partnerships with healthcare facilities throughout the mid-Atlantic region, focused on CSON student clinical placement
2. Partners with the CUA Office of General Counsel to implement appropriate memoranda of understanding.
3. Collaborates with healthcare facilities to offer appropriate undergraduate clinical experiences for upper-division CON nursing students
4. Evaluates clinical agencies to ensure effective clinical placements.
5. Evaluates clinical preceptor performance; extends or severs engagements.
6. Develops a proficiency in using Castlebranch as the method for securing clinical placements at healthcare facilities and provides assistance with troubleshooting student issues in navigating Castlebranch and InPlace. Teaches section personnel as necessary to use these programs.
7. Directs and engages with the Clinical Placement Specialist, clinical preceptors and faculty to assure quality clinical sites and student placements for clinical rotations.
8. Assures adherence to budget parameters in concert with the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Program
9. Evaluates personnel and section function annually against goals and objectives, and revises operations as necessary to ensure goal achievement.
10. Visits clinical sites at least once each academic year, engaging leadership in support of the CSON.
11. Oversees recruiting, hiring, securing, and onboarding of clinical preceptors to oversee student clinical rotations; oversees personnel evaluations, assuring preceptor suitability for continued engagement with the CSON.
12. Projects the annual number of clinical groups for each course lab, plans group clusters and sites, and participates in assigning instructors
13. Ensures clinical instructor files and clinical instructor master sheet are up to date with attestations, CVs, current licensure, and other compliance documentation.
Oversee the process for students to provide input into clinical placements and the communication of clinical placements to students.
14. Monitor the CSON shared email account to respond to student needs.
15. Prepare for the semester ahead by updating required Google Forms and establishing and reviewing clinical assignments of students and instructors 1
16. Establishes standards related to training/orienting/onboarding for clinical preceptors, and establishes standards of performance for section personnel, such as conducting a minimum of one (1) Town Hall meeting per semester, completion of attestation forms, and orienting to processes related to students unable/unwilling to meet clinical rotation experiences.
17. Supports clinical simulation as needed, such as student completion or a clinical makeup day.
18. Actively links with the Assistant Dean for the Accelerated BSN Program regarding student clinical rotation matters and any student issues brought to the attention of the clinical preceptor.
